RBL Filter

The Real Time Black Hole (RBL) filter is used to block mail from known "Spammers." The RBL filter references sites that keep a database of sites that either send out spam or allow spam to be sent from their servers.

To edit the RBL Filter, select it from the list box in the Filter Manager and click Next .

RBL Filter dialog box

The Filter Information dialog box gives a description of the filter. You can disable the RBL filter by unchecking the Filter Enabled check box.

Note: You will be prompted to restart your computer for this change to take effect.

RBL Reporting Agencies dialog boxes

You can choose to use any (or all) of the three reporting agencies to filter your incoming mail. When an email that was sent from one of the listed servers reaches your mail server, the message is rejected. SLmail sends a fatal error message back to the originating server. The email is not returned to the sender, however, they may (depends on client) receive a message that states that the message was rejected and will be referred to the site that they were listed on.
